What Happens After I Join?

Get to know your website 

As soon as you join, you will be given a user name and temporary password for our website. If you are comfortable doing so, log in and change the temporary settings to ones that you easily remember. You may teach your computer to remember your password if you wish.  If you have any difficulty, or if you do not get the user name and password, call Kate at the office, 203-776-7378.

If you are not comfortable using your computer, HomeHaven can help. We have volunteers who can come to your home and work with you to make using our website easier. Call the office for this valuable service.

After logging in, you will notice that there are new options in the directory to your left.  Spend some time checking out the Membership Directory and the Events Calendar.  Consider signing up for an activity or become a volunteer;  that's how we build community.  Check your own profile in the Membership Directory  and make sure it is correct.  You may change this information yourself at any time, or ask us to do it for you.  Please be sure we have contact information for your children (if any) and other emergency contacts; we would love to email our newsletter to your family and friends.

In the membership directory, you may write a short biography to introduce yourself to other HH members, fill in birthdays, and add your social networking links. If you have a digital picture, you may upload it yourself or send it via e-mail attachment to the office.  Or you may send a snapshot to the office for us to scan and return. Your personal information does not circulate on the Internet.

Meet your Village

When you join HomeHaven, you will automatically belong to one of our Villages, based on where you live.  Soon after signing up, you should receive a call or visit from one of your Village leaders, who will be your guide in getting to know your Village neighbors and activities.  Be assured that you will be welcome to all HomeHaven activities and events, though you may find that your closest friends and support networks may well be within your own Village.
